Florida's First Snow Park to Open in November

Florida's first and only snow park still has plans to open in November this year, and it's now seeking vendors for its market.

In May, Snowcat Ridge Snow Park's Marketing Manager Winston McDaniel told FOX 35 Orlando News that the park is coming to Dade City in Florida before Christmas.

At the time, they said the Florida construction of the snow park was still underway. But McDaniel added that building the park was still on track for a November opening.

"As we get closer to Fall we will have more updates to release," he said. The first day of fall came on Tuesday, and the snow park's website still shows that their debut month is November 2020.

If the Snowcat Ridge Snow Park is still on track to be a reality, it can give Floridians a taste of the winter just in time for the holidays.

"We are currently finalizing information and will send that out mid-October," a spokesperson said.

Point Summit owns the park. It broke ground on Saint Joe Road in Dade City in December 2019.

Point Summit said the park is expected to stay open for almost four months if the weather allows. Guests can find the snow park next to the TreeHoppers Aerial Adventure Park.

What Would The Snowcat Ridge Look Like?

According to a report from CBS affiliate WTSP, the snow park is a 60-foot-tall and 400-foot-long attraction. It will have a snow tubing hill, magic carp lift, snow play area, and an Alpine Village.

Details on what exactly these attractions will look like are still to come. But the spokesperson said the magic carpet would "whisk riders and their snow tubes to the top of the hill." Guests can ride in a single, tandem, or six-person tube down the slope.

"Our team has been working very hard over the last few years to bring our alpine snow park to reality," said Snowcat Ridge CEO Benjamin Nagengast. He added that the snow park would be "unlike anything anyone has seen before in the Sunshine State."

It is also clear that there will be real snow inside the snow dome. Guests who will visit the park can build snowmen and other snow figures inside.

"Some folks think it's impossible to experience snow tubing and the joy of snow in Florida," said creative director Mark Bremer said. "But our team is all about making the impossible, possible."

Guests can also visit the park's Alpine Village, where hot cocoa and a bonfire are open for the public to enjoy.

Developers added that the snow park would also have its own magical light show during the evenings. The light shows can be seen on both the park's snow hill and its snow dome.

According to That's So Tampa, Markets for Makers will be having an Alpine Market inside the snow dome.

The Market is expected to open to the public on November 20 and will run through January 3. Vendors can apply for a spot in the market through this link.
