Meghan Markle loses her latest round in court as the judge allowed the Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) to use as part of their defense the biography "Finding Freedom."

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, sues ANL, the publisher of the paper "Mail on Sunday" for privacy infringement after it published a letter that she had written to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

In their latest court battle, ANL had asked the court to use as part of their defense the biography claiming that Markle had lost her right to privacy regarding the contents of the letter. This is because she and Prince Harry had cooperated with the authors of "Finding Freedom" to put out their version of events.

Meghan Markle's defense team had said that the Sussexes did not meet with the authors of the biography for the book's purpose. They added, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand did not give a copy of the book to the Duchess' PR representative to suggest proposed changes to the text beforehand.

The couple's spokesperson has said several times that the Duke and Duchess were never involved with the biography and that the book was just based on the co-authors' experiences in the royal household.

Meghan Markle's lawyers also said that allegations that the royal couple collaborated with the authors of the biography were conspiracy theories. They argued that references to the letter in the biography were lifted from the article published by "Mail on Sunday."

However, Judge Francesca Kaye ruled in favor of ANL's application, allowing the publisher to amend its defense to include the biography.

Judge Kaye said the ruling in favor of ANL's application does not raise new defenses but adds further particulars to ANL's case.

A representative for Schillings, who are acting on Meghan Markle's behalf, said that the Mail on Sunday had been allowed to prolong this process. The latest hearing was another step in a case that has already been drawn out by ANL. ANL uses the legal process to exploit the Duchess's privacy and those around her for profit-motivated clickbait rather than journalism.

The ANL has denied the Duchess' allegations, especially about altering the letter to change its meaning.

Meghan Markle has constantly been in the news and recently earned the ire of President Donald Trump when she and Prince Harry appeared in a call to vote video, which many had construed as supporting the candidacy of Democrat presidential bid Joe Biden.

In the video, Meghan Markle had said that "Every four years, we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is."

Prince Harry had also said that it is vital that people reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity with the November election approaches.

Trump had taken a swipe at the royal couple, saying that he was not a fan of Meghan Markle and wished Prince Harry plenty of luck.
