Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway announced Friday night that she has tested positive for COVID-19.

Conway is one of the latest major political figures to say they contracted coronavirus after attending a Rose Garden event last Saturday where President Donald Trump announced his Supreme Court pick.

"Tonight I tested positive for COVID-19. My symptoms are mild (light cough) and I'm feeling fine. I have begun a quarantine process in consultation with physicians," Conway tweeted.

She added that her heart "is with everyone affected by this global pandemic."

Conway is now the sixth person who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the event last week.

Trump, first lady Melania Trump, top Trump aide Hope Hicks, and Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee were among those who tested positive. Also confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 were Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis and University of Notre Dame President the Rev. John Jenkins.

Many of the guests arrived at the event with masks on. But as the Rose Garden event continued, masks became virtually nonexistent. During the event, Trump announced that he picked Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee.

Some of Trump administration's top health officials were seen not wearing masks or social distancing, including other event attendees.

Seats for guests in the White House Rose Garden also did not appear spaced apart the recommended six feet.

Meanwhile, Trump was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he will stay and work out of an office for the next few days.

Trump was seen wearing a mask and a suit as he walked out across the White House lawn for a short flight to Walter Reed.

The White House said Trump remains in good spirits, adding that he has mild symptoms and has been working throughout the day.

Trump was reported to develop a low-grade fever and had it since Friday morning.

The White House said the decision to remain in the hospital for a few days was "out of an abundance of caution."

Trump has posted an 18-second video to his Twitter account. He reassured the American public that he is doing well after receiving a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

"I think I'm doing very well. We're going to make sure that things work out. The first lady is doing very well. So thank you very much, I appreciate it. I will never forget it. Thank you," he noted.

Trump has "received a single 8 gram dose of Regeneron's polyclonal antibody cocktail" as a precautionary measure.

Aside from Regeneron, the President has also been taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin, and daily aspirin.
