Prince William Had Coronavirus in April, New Report Reveals

Prince William had coronavirus as he "struggled to breathe" and sent the royal aide to a terrified panic.

On Sunday, reports revealed that the British Royal Prince William had COVID-19 in April. He fought to hide the news regarding his illness from the press as the country's prime minister, Boris Johnson, and his dad Prince Charles had just come down with the fatal contagion. According to Page Six, sources told The Sun that William was concerned about how the nation would be worried about his illness.

A source told the outlet that William was hit pretty hard by the coronavirus and knocked him for six. The insider added that William was struggling to breathe at one stage, and everyone around him panicked. 

But "after seeing medics and testing positive, which was quite a shock given how fit and healthy he is, William was determined it should be business as usual. He was determined to fulfill his engagements," the source said.

The palace doctors treated the Prince and were quarantined adequately at his family's home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. Prince William is next in line to succeed his father to the throne. He all carried out work phone calls and video chats, as per the outlet. 

The Sun reported that Prince William told a source at an event that he kept the issue of having coronavirus because crucial things are going on, and he doesn't want anyone to worry about it.

The source said that the married dad of three later realizes as a result of his own experiences, that anyone can catch the 'awful disease' and knows how crucial it is to take the second lockdown seriously.

Jonny Dymond, the BBC royal correspondent, said that the Prince's condition might not have been revealed at that time because they might want to avoid further alarm knowing the national mood. 

"But the palace also tries to preserve some privacy for the Royal Family," Dymond added.

During April, Prince William reportedly carried out 14 telephone and video call engagements. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also had a video call with the children of key workers in Burnley, Lancashire, earlier that month. 

In March, Prince Charles had the coronavirus and spent seven days of self-isolation in Scotland following an experience of mild symptoms. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall tested negative for COVID-19 and also had self-isolation for 14 days. 

Prince Charles said later that he "got away with it quite lightly." After recovering from coronavirus, Prince Charles said that he has not fully regained his sense of taste and smell during his first public engagement. 

On the other hand, Boris Johnson was admitted in April to the hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19. The Prime Minister later moved to the intensive care unit and thanked the healthcare workers for saving his life.  

Days before England is due to enter the second national lockdown, the news of Prince William's diagnosis came with four weeks to start on Thursday.
