AMLO asks Biden to immediately work on immigration policy

Mexican Pres. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is asking the new U.S. federal government administration to immediately act on the immigration policy. Specifically, granting dual citizenship to Mexican nationals living in the U.S. for quite a long time.

During Biden's inauguration as the 46th President in the U.S., the Mexican President released a statement asking Biden to quickly fulfill his promises on the immigration plan. There are millions of illegal immigrants working in the U.S. just waiting for their applications to be processed and approved.

Meanwhile, changes in immigration policy have been the core of Biden's presidential campaign. It was also one of the keys which led to his victory in the presidential race. On the other hand, immigration is something that Trump rarely mentions in his campaigns.

Obrador said, "I hope that today or in the coming days he presents the migration plan. What it is going to consist of, how they are going to respect their right to be recognized, that they get dual nationality." Having dual citizenship is very important most especially for Mexicans who continue to work in the U.S. amid the threat of the global pandemic.

The Mexican President also said that such a move will help Central American nations and southern Mexico who send migrants of workers in the U.S., according to a report in Fox News,
