President Joe Biden's German Shepherds can no longer enjoy staying in the White House. They were sent back to the family's home in Delaware due to a "biting incident" involving a security officer.

Insider reported that the Biden family was forced to send the two German Shepherds back to Wilmington last week after the younger dog had a "biting incident" with a White House security member. But it did not specify if the person was injured.

The report further noted that the younger German Shepherd also displayed aggressive behavior, including barking, jumping, and charging at White House staff and security members.

German Shepherds Major, 3, and Champ, 13, moved to the White House about a week after Biden's inauguration last January.

Biden's German Shepherd

The Daily Mail noted that Joe and First Lady Jill Biden adopted Major in 2018 from an animal shelter. Champ was adopted by the Bidens after former President Barrack Obama's winning in 2008, 8 News Now reported.

According to Insider, the Bidens exerted a lot of effort to settle the German Shepherds in their new residence at the White House. During her interview with singer Kelly Clarkson in February, Jill Biden shared that she was obsessed with settling the dogs with them at the White House.

Jill Biden told Clarkson that everything was new to the dogs, including riding the elevator. She added that lots of people also watched them when they go out on the South Lawn.

Reports said the German Shepherds of the Biden family were allowed to roam on the White House grounds without their leash and were often featured on the background of Oval Office photos.

Some presidential families who resided in the White House have dogs who also accompanied them during their terms. One of the famous dogs is Portuguese Water Dogs, Bo and Sunny, of the Obamas. On the other hand, former President Donald Trump was the only president who stayed in the White House without a pet dog.

Are German Shepherds Violent?

With question circulating whether German shepherds are not good as pets, Deutscher-Schaeferhund.org countered the argument. It noted that the impression of Germans Shepherds are aggressive might come from their depiction in movies and television, wherein the dogs could be seen behaving badly.

Also, Germans Shepherd is hired as police and military dogs that require them to be aggressive.

The organization further noted that although they can bite people around them and be aggressive, the biting and aggressiveness could result from poor training and poor socialization.

It also said that German Shepherds do not attack their owners any more frequently than many other dogs' breeds. If a German Shepherd has bitten an individual or something, there is likely a reason: a reaction just like what other dogs will do.
