The creators of the animated television show "South Park" would like to buy Colorado's historic landmark, Casa Bonita.

"South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone confirmed their plan to The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview posted on Wednesday, July 28.

Casa Bonita was featured on "South Park" in a 2003 episode and has received several mentions in the show, 9News reported. In 2017, Casa Bonita was featured in a video game entitled "South Park: The Fractured but Whole."

'South Park' Duo Trey Parker and Matt Stone Want Casa Bonita

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, both Colorado natives, said they wanted to buy Casa Bonita and "treat it right." They felt that the Colorado restaurant was neglected even before the pandemic.

"We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it (Casa Bonita) right and make it amazing," Parker stressed.

If the sale of Casa Bonita happens, Parker said they have some changes to implement on the Colorado restaurant. Parker noted that most of the changes would concern the menu or food offered in the enormous Mexican restaurant.

"We're going to make really awesome food. I was already thinking about how I was going to make Black Bart's Cave [a famous food on the restaurant] a little bigger," Parker said. The "South Park" co-creator further noted that they have other big plans for Casa Bonita along with other Colorado-based restaurants.

Casa Bonita, located at 6715 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood, opened in 1974. Since then, the restaurant became a historic landmark in Lakewood, Colorado. The said destination features different activities such as an arcade, a cave, and a waterfall with cliff divers.

Colorado's Casa Bonita on Bankruptcy

South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone confirmed their goal of buying Casa Bonita after the restaurant owner, Summit Family Restaurants, filed for Chapter 11 protection in Arizona in April.

Court documents showed that Summit Family Restaurants has noncontingent liquidated debts below $7.5 million, a local report said. Casa Bonita was reported to close its food service since last year due to a pandemic.

At the moment, Parker noted that a possible sale is in limbo due to ongoing court proceedings. However, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the "South Park" duo is trying to make the deal work.

It was not the first time that Trey Parker and Matt Stone voiced their interests in Casa Bonita. In a 2016 interview, the "South Park" duo shared their plan to buy the Colorado restaurant in the past, when it went up for sale, contending that people were going to Casa Bonita because of "South Park."

"It's just sitting there. It sucks," said Parker, adding that buying the landmark was like the "crowning achievement" of his life.

Meanwhile, recent court filings revealed that the owner discussed possibly opening the Casa Bonita in late July or August.
