Packers star Aaron Rodgers and his fiancée Shailene Woodley reportedly decided to go their separate ways on Wednesday.

Rodgers and Woodley's split came one year after the athlete surprisingly announced his engagement in February last year, E! News reported.

A source confirmed to People the alleged reason behind their split, saying that their breakup was "amicable" and that their relationship "wasn't working."

"They're very different people with busy careers and there were obstacles that they couldn't surmount," the source pointed out.

Despite their breakup, the insider underscored that Woodley and Rodgers remain friends, explaining that there was no "bad blood" between the two.

"It just didn't work out for them," the source added.

Meanwhile, another source told InTouch that Woodley "felt neglected" in their relationship, and neither of them was happy, per Sporting News.

Another source revealed earlier this year that Rodgers and Woodley often contradict each other on things.

"They disagreed on a lot of things. Early on they decided to agree to disagree about things and not debate them," the source highlighted.

However, that issue did not start the speculation of their break up.

E! News highlighted that fans began to speculate that Aaron and Shailene called it quits when Woodley was photographed in October, surfing in Malibu without her ring. Reports noted that Woodley's choice of nail polish made it more noticeable that she did not wear her ring as she painted her nails light pink while the nails on her ring finger were colored black.

In September last year, Rodgers revealed with Haute Living that they were both focusing on their work separately.

"It's a busy work time for her so [my decision] probably came at a good time for both of us to be able to focus on our work," Rodgers said during that time.

Rodgers and Woodley's romance started to surface in February last year, with sources confirming to multiple outlets that the pair is in a "quiet relationship," and that things are going smoothly for them even though they are in a long-distance relationship, per Sporting News.

In the same month, Aaron Rodgers made a surprise appearance on an NFL Honors broadcast as he was named as the league's MVP for 2020. Rodgers then thanked a bunch of people, including Woodley, whom he referred to as "my fiancée" during that time.

Woodley also confirmed that she was engaged with Aaron Rodgers during an appearance in the "Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon," saying that they were "engaged for a while."

In May last year, the two embarked on an adventure in Hawaii, as they hiked with actor Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Sperry Teller.

It can be recalled that Woodley also came to Aaron's defense in November when the Packers star was placed under fire after he provided misleading claims on his vaccination status.
