At least five individuals were charged Wednesday in a Puerto Rico court for the murder of boxing legend Hector "Macho" Camacho in 2012.

According to Associated Press, the suspects identified as William Rodriguez Rodriguez, Luis Ayala Garcia, Joshua Mendez Romero, Jesus Naranjo Adorno, and Juan Figueroa Rivera were charged with conspiracy and first-degree murder charges.

Daily Mail reported that Rodriguez, Garcia, and Romero also face charges for possessing and firing a firearm, organized crime, and money laundering.

Rodriguez, Romero, and Adorno were extradited from Orlando, Florida, where they were serving sentences for unrelated cases, and Garcia was already in prison in Puerto Rico due to an unrelated conviction.

Rivera was arrested Wednesday after police raided his home at Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where Camacho was killed. New York Post reported that two other suspects in Camacho's murder were killed in unrelated events in 2013 and 2015.

According to reports, Rodriguez, Garcia, and Romero are held on an $800,000 bond, while Adorno was held on a $300,000 bond. Rivera was held on a $1 million bond.

Public prosecutor Janet Parra, who oversees the justice department's division of organized crime and drugs, said she could not reveal the motive behind Camacho's killing or share any evidence. However, she noted that authorities tracked down every tip received.

Hector Camacho's Mom Reacts on the Murder Charges by a Puerto Rico Court

The elderly mom of Hector "Macho" Camacho said justice was given to her.

"I can sleep in peace. I can eat and drink a little cup of coffee in the morning," Camacho's mother noted as AP reported.

Ex-Puerto Rico boxer and Camacho's friend, Victor Callejas, told the AP that it was "extremely important" for him that several suspects were charged in the case. He then said that the late boxer has a "unique character" and not the type of person who sought enemies.

Camacho was sitting in a passenger seat of a parked Ford Mustang driven by Adrian Mojica when they were both fired at outside a bar in his hometown of Bayamon on November 20, 2012.

Officials earlier said that Mojica was the intended target of the gunmen, who were contracted to rob him of several kilos of cocaine inside his car and kill him. Mojica was declared dead at the scene, while Camacho, who was shot in the face, was taken to a hospital.

According to reports, Camacho suffered a heart attack before being taken off life support at the request of his family and was declared brain dead. The veteran boxer died on November 24, 2012.
