A Tennessee man fatally stabbed his sister and nephew in a mass stabbing attack in the early morning hours of Saturday.

According to Fox 13, the incident occurred in the 2000 block of Hubert Avenue in Memphis at around 12:30 a.m. Officers responded to the area after one of the victims called 911. They found five people suffering from stab wounds.

People reported that one of the victims was Pamela Isabell, the suspect's sister. The Tennessee mom was found unresponsive and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pamela's seven-year-old son, A.J., was reportedly taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries, and his death was pronounced.

The Memphis Police Department said three other victims, including a nine-year-old child, were also taken to the hospital, WREG reported. They reportedly suffered from sharp force trauma and are in critical condition.

Authorities did not identify the three victims. However, reports claimed that the survivors were composed of two men and a nine-year-old boy. Eyewitness Jerry Starks told WREG that he was still shocked by what he saw.

"I saw them pumping the chest of one of the kids trying to survive him, then I seen another kid come out... He walked out, and I think he was stabbed also, but they put him on the stretcher," Starks said.

Suspect in Tennessee Stabbing Was Victim's Brother

Authorities identified the suspect in the Tennessee stabbing as Leaudre Isabell, 23. However, the motive for the attack remains under investigation.

The victims, who were in the hospital, gave verbal statements to the police and identified Leaudre as the one who stabbed them. After he was arrested, the Tennessee man was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Family and friends expressed sadness about what happened. One family member said: "How [do] you stab all those people like that... and then you wait until they go to sleep?"

Records showed that Leaudre is being held at the Shelby County jail with no bond. His next hearing is scheduled for May 4. It was still unclear whether he had entered a plea or retained an attorney.

Family of Tennessee Suspect Claims He Has Mental Illness

According to WREG, the family of the Tennessee suspect said Leaudre has battled mental health issues. An unnamed family member noted that everybody in their family tried to help Leaudre.

"He just got a problem... Everybody tried to help him. Everybody in the family tried to help taking him back and forth to work. Nope, don't have to pay no rent," the family member noted.

Marquiepta Odom, the executive director of domestic violence shelter YWCA Greater Memphis, said people should watch for signs of anger and behavior being different or being very aggressive in one person.

Odom said: "There are tell-tell signs in most cases before someone just acts out."
