A Puerto Rico judge recently issued a restraining order against Ricky Martin in accordance with the country's domestic violence law.

The name of the petitioner of the restraining order has not been named. However, Eric Martin, the Puerto Rican singer's brother, revealed that the complainant is their nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez.

The complaint claimed that Sanchez had a romantic relationship with his uncle for seven months, and they broke up two months ago. Sanchez is reportedly the son of Martin's stepsister.

According to Sanchez, Martin did not agree to their separation, calling him frequently. The young man also alleged that the Puerto Rican singer loitered around his residence on at least three occasions, for which "the petitioner fears for his safety."

He further noted Martin has been consuming large amounts of alcohol and drugs. The restraining order issued to Martin prevents him from contacting the petitioner, whether in person or over the phone.

The domestic abuse restraining order also directed the "She Bangs" singer to refrain from "approaching, harassing, intimidating, threatening," or in any way interferes with the petitioner.

According to Marca, the penalty for Ricky Martin's actions could be more severe if the allegations are true now it is known that his nephew was the petitioner.

According to NME, Judge Raiza Cajigas Campbell signed the restraining order on July 1. Later that day, police officers visited the town of Dorado, where Ricky Martin lives, to serve him the order.

However, the police were not able to locate the singer that day, police spokesman Axel Valencia told The Associated Press. Local media reported that the restraining order against Martin is set to expire on July 21.

On July 4, the Latin pop icon denied the accusations against him. In a tweet, Martin said he cannot make detailed statements yet, because it is an ongoing legal matter.

But the "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer noted that the protection order was "based on completely false allegations," adding that he will "respond through the judicial process with the facts and dignity that characterize me."

Martin's representatives also said the accusations were not true and were "completely false and fabricated." His lawyers were also confident that when the "true facts come to light," their client would be "fully vindicated."
