John Travolta has posted a heartwarming message for his former "Grease" partner Olivia Newton-John, who recently passed away earlier today.

Olivia Newton-John, who played Sandy Dombrowski in the iconic 1978 cult classic film "Grease," plays opposite John Travolta's Danny Zuko. Their portrayal has launched both actors into great career heights, making them two of the most important actors to date.

In an Instagram post, John Travolta paid tribute to his former co-star and close friend, Olivia Newton-John.

Per Travolta, Newton-John made all of their lives "so much better" with her incredible impact. Despite many speculations at the time of their romantic relationship, Olivia officially debunked the claims that the two of them were dating, and opted to remain close friends.

Olivia Newton-John's Cause of Death Revealed

As CNN reported earlier today, Australian actress and 70s popstar Olivia Newton-John died at 73 years old in Southern California. Her husband, John Easterling confirmed the news to the outlet.

In a statement released on her Instagram account, Newton-John passed away "peacefully" surrounded by her family and friends.

"Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continue with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation," the statement reads.

Olivia's cause of death was revealed to be cancer - a disease she had long been fighting for over thirty years already. She had been diagnosed and treated thrice already, the last one being last September 2018.

It was not revealed yet what specific type of cancer Olivia Newton-John succumbed to, but the latest diagnosis was cancer growing at the base of her spine.

In an interview in 2018, the British-Australian singer revealed that she is being treated with "modern" medicines and natural remedies for her new cancer diagnosis.

Olivia Newton-John Dies at 73

More than a month before her 74th birthday, Olivia Newton-John died because of cancer. However, her three cancer diagnosis over the past 30 years has not stopped the entertainment icon from making strides in music and film.

Early on in her career, Newton-John worked mainly as a singer. She produced many hits in the early 70s that have rocked the charts both in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Before her iconic portrayal in "Grease," Olivia scored her first GRAMMY Award in 1973 for Best Female Country Performance for her song "Let Me Be There." She also won two more a year after, including the coveted Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "I Honestly Love You".

However, it was her performance in "Grease" with John Travolta that cemented her name in the American household.

Afterward, she went on to produce more studio and collaborative albums, bringing her total to 26.

Olivia Newton-John is survived by her husband John Easterling, daughter Chloe Lattanzi, sister, brother, nephews, and nieces.
