A Louisiana mom was arrested on Sunday after she stabbed her two minor children and made a live stream on Instagram in which she appeared with blood dripping down her chest.

Police identified the suspect as Janee Pedescleaux, 31. She allegedly stabbed her 4-year-old daughter, Paris Roberts, and her 2-year-old son inside their home in the 3100 block of Law Street in the Florida Area in New Orleans.

According to The Times-Picayune, the Louisiana mom was charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Unfortunately, her daughter, Paris Roberts, died at the hospital, while her little brother managed to survive but is fighting for his life.

After stabbing her two children, Pedescleaux live-streamed on Instagram. In the brief video, which has since been deleted from Instagram, she made a chilling statement and said: "My children is dead. I'm done, I'm done with life. I'm killing myself."

According to Crime Online, the Louisiana mom was crying and covered in blood as she live-streamed and blamed the killings on "Jermaine," the father of the two children.

Children's Father Tried Rescuing His Children From the Louisiana Mom

Janee Pedescleaux was in the middle of an ugly custody battle with the father of the two children, Jermaine Roberts.

Roberts sued her in April and sought joint custody to allow him to see his children on weekends. In his court filings, he claimed that the Louisiana mom would not let him see the children and that she was not also stable nor provided a healthy environment for them.

They were supposed to meet in court for a hearing later this month. Following her live streaming, her neighbors alerted Roberts that their children might have been in grave danger.

Roberts immediately arrived at his children's home and broke through a front window. He was the one who took the children to the hospital for treatment, according to Fox 8.

Surveillance footage showed a man believed to be Roberts arriving in a white pickup truck, breaking into the house, exiting with the two injured children, and driving away.

Police arrived just after 11:17 a.m. on Sunday and arrested the mother. She was taken away strapped to an ambulance gurney and booked into the Orleans Justice Center later that same day.

Neighbor, Mental Health Expert React to Louisiana Mom's Stabbings

Reverend Johnny Arvie lived next door to Janee Pedescleaux and her children. He is serving as the Pastor of Law Street Baptist Church, and the incident occurred as he was doing his Sunday service right next to where the incident occurred.

He spoke to local NBC affiliate WDSU about the stabbings. Arvie said he gave his card to family members so they could call him and talk to him but admitted that it was all he could do.

He continued to pray for the family and the community, and despite what had transpired, he said they have a "very good community."

However, the pastor added that he was concerned about the mental health of the community as well.  He said mental health concerns were a big part of incidents like this.

Arvie noted that his Church will continue to help the family through this tough time. Dr. Rochelle Head-Dunham, the medical director for the Metropolitan Human Services District, also told the outlet that mental health was definitely a factor in the incident.

She noted that "a pervasive sense of hopelessness" may have pushed the Louisiana mom to do it.
