SNAP Benefits October 2022

The U.S. Agriculture Department had granted waivers to the following states, allowing those to extend their emergency allotments through October 2022.

Another Go Banking Rates report noted that the emergency allotments provide $95 or more in additional funds each month.

Emergency allotments in most states have already expired. However, more than a dozen states have decided to extend it through October 2022.

The emergency funds were given to help SNAP recipients to cushion the impact of financial hardships caused by the pandemic.

Some of the states that have extended emergency allotments include Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, and Virginia, among others.

Food stamps recipients are also experiencing financial insecurity, which increased further due to the quick rise in food and grocery prices brought by inflation, according to a Smarter Florida report.

SNAP benefits recipients can also expect to receive an average of 12.5% increase in their food stamps benefits this October 2022.

The increase is believed to offset the rising cost of food due to inflation.
