Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to Miami Friday for some tests after getting hurt in the head and neck during their game against Cincinnati Thursday night.

After being thrown to the ground and carried off the field on a stretcher during the first half, the Dolphins quarterback was taken to the hospital for X-rays and a CT scan.

According to NFL, Tagovailoa was discharged Thursday night, just in time to join his team at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati while wearing a neck brace and leave for Miami after the Fins lost 27-15 to the Bengals.

Tagovailoa got an MRI on Friday as a precaution, according to Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. He also stated that he had no estimated time for his starting quarterback to return to the field.

"Honestly, to be completely forthright, I'm not even really thinking about timetables or anything regarding him as a player right now. It's all about, really, Tua the person," said McDaniel.

Tua Tagovailoa also made a statement via tweet.

What Have Caused Tua Tagovailoa Injury?

Josh Tupou, the nose tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, hit Tagovailoa in the second quarter, which caused his head to hit the ground. On Thursday, he was taken to the hospital. He was on the ground for about 12 minutes before he was helped off the field and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with a head injury and a neck injury.

Tagovailoa had a similar accident during Miami's game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. He hit the back of his head on the ground and was taken to the hospital for treatment of a concussion.

People on social media were upset that the Dolphins let Tagovailoa play again. After Sunday's game, the NFL Players Association used its right to ask for a review of the league's concussion protocol. JC Tretter, NFLPA president, made a statement on Twitter Friday saying that what happened to the Miami Dolphins QB "outraged" him.

According to Allen Sills, NFL Chief Medical Officer, Tagovailoa underwent multiple concussion examinations, including one at halftime of the Bills game and one each day leading up to Thursday's game. Still, the Dolphins claim he passed all of them, ESPN noted.

"I have 100 percent conviction in our process regarding our players," McDaniel said.

He also said that NFL is a player-friendly organization. From that start, he makes it clear that his job there is for the players, and he takes that seriously.

Tua Tagovailoa Is in Good Condition

Josina Anderson, a senior NFL insider for CBS Sports, said the quarterback traveled with a neck brace. All of Tagovailoa's initial tests were negative, and nothing was broken.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said that Tagovailoa, who will get an MRI, was "in good spirits" while his family comforted him at the hospital, on the plane, and when he got home.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins are still being criticized for Tua Tagovailoa's injury, but McDaniel says that the NFL's concussion protocol was followed.
