On Saturday, a small plane crashed into the Caribbean Sea near the coast of Costa Rica, where six people are on board. One of the passengers was allegedly Rainer Schaller, the German billionaire who owns Gold's Gym.

Jorge Torres, the minister of security, said that all five passengers seemed to be from Germany.

The pilot of the plane was Swiss, and one of the passengers appeared to be Schaller's relative, Associated Press News reported.

After the flight went missing Friday, Costa Rican police say that pieces of the twin-engine turboprop plane were found in the water Saturday.

"Rainer Schaller" was listed as a passenger on the tiny charter plane's filed flight schedule. The owner of multinational fitness and gym companies, including Gold's Gym and McFit, goes by the same name.

While one of the passengers seemed to be Schaller's relative, the authorities did not immediately confirm their relationship.

The aircraft was a nine-seat Piaggio P180 Avanti, an Italian design distinguished by its unusual shape.

The plane vanished from the radar while traveling to the coastal resort town of Limon.

Gold's Gym Owner Rainer Schaller Reportedly One of the Casualties of Costa Rica Plane Crash

Rainer Schaller, 53, the owner of Gold's Gym, among other businesses, and his family are presumed dead by the officials when their plane vanished overnight.

Schaller, his partner Christiane Schikorsky, their two children, and an alleged fitness trainer have been missing since Friday, when their private plane went missing off the coast of Costa Rica, traveling from Mexico.

The RSG Group, of which Schaller is the founder and CEO, manages several gym chains worldwide, including McFit, John Reed, and Gold's, which he bought a few years ago after it declared bankruptcy due to the pandemic.

According to TMZ, all are well-known brands in the fitness industry, but Gold's is especially prominent in the United States. Over the years, it has worked with several notable people, including Clint Eastwood, Muhammad Ali, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and countless others.

Bodies of Adult and Child Found in the Sea After the Plane Crash

Rainer Schaller and his family have not been seen since their private plane crashed off the coast of Costa Rica. However, while authorities looked for them, the bodies of an adult and a child were found at sea.

According to Teletica, the public security ministry of Costa Rica has verified that a body of an adult and a body of a child were found on Saturday during a search operation by the National Coast Guard and the Air Surveillance Service.

Authorities have also discovered luggage and one of the plane's seats roughly 25 miles from the plane's destination at Juan Santamaría airport.

Fernando Naranjo, who oversees the Civil Aviation Authority, says that the plane stopped showing up on radar about 25 miles (40 km) from Limón airport.

"The plane was due to land at 6:58 p.m.; we lost it at an altitude of 2,000 feet."

The search was restarted after being stopped due to bad weather.

A McFit spokesperson confirmed later that Schaller and his family were on the plane, The Sun noted.
