Lionel Messi Suffered an Injury Scared Before World Cup 2022

Just over two weeks before Argentina's World Cup 2022 campaign gets underway, Lionel Messi had an injury scare. Due to an inflamed Achilles tendon, Messi, the captain of Argentina, will not go with PSG to Lorient in Ligue 1.

After winning Copa America in 2021, the superstar wants to help Lionel Scaloni's team win the World Cup in Qatar. According to Daily Mail, the World Cup in Qatar is the only major trophy he has yet to lift in his long career.

But PSG said Messi's injury is not too bad, and they said he can return to full training next week, before the Parisians' last game before the World Cup against Auxerre.

Last month, Messi failed to play against Reims in Ligue 1 and a crunch Champions League encounter with Benfica due to a calf problem. Since getting back into shape, Messi has been in fantastic condition. In 18 appearances across all competitions thus far this season, he has 12 goals and 14 assists.

On the other hand, Argentina's attackers, Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero are also battling to recover from injuries to compete in the World Cup 2022.

Messi talked about how worried he was about the World Cup in response to the knocks of his fellow players and the fact that more and more stars are going to miss it because of its timing.

"Injuries are a worry," he said last month. "This is a different World Cup which is played at a different time of the year to previous tournaments, and it's so imminent any little thing that happens to you can force you out," he added.
