The World Cup has now kicked off, and after Ecuador won a big opener against hosts Qatar, other matches also took place around the small Gulf nation. One of the biggest matches included the United States opening against Wales, England facing off against Iran, and Senegal facing the Netherlands squad.

England's match against Iran in their opener was a pretty one-sided match as the Three Lions demolished their Iranian opponents with the final score of 6-2. England played very aggressively against the Iranians, according to CBS Sports, and it was a lopsided affair and all of England's attackers shined.

Bukayo Saka shined the brightest that night, though its other stars also contributed quite well. It was also quite historic for Jude Bellingham, as he became the second youngest England player to score at the prestigious tournament, only trailing behind Michael Owen.

Wales Frustrates USA in Opener

While England was celebrating a huge win, the USMNT was not having as good of a night as their English rivals when they took on the other British team in their group, Wales.

CNN reported that the Americans were quite dominant at the start of the match and were looking to win it when 22-year-old Timothy Weah, son of soccer legend George Weah, scored a goal putting the USMNT up 1-0.

The Americans maintained the lead until late in the game. However, their hopes were dashed late when LAFC star Gareth Bale scored a late penalty for the Welsh, tying the game 1-1. The Americans were not able to recover as the game ended in a draw.

Plenty of Americans inside the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Monday made sure their voices were heard, even competing with the Welsh fans who were also in attendance. The loud and familiar "U-S-A" chants reverberated around the arena, though it fell silent as soon as Bale scored that penalty.

"He has never let us down," Wales manager Rob Paige stated after the game.

Netherlands Seals Important Victory Against Senegal

Over in Group A, the Netherlands opened with a huge win against the African powerhouse, Senegal. The Dutch side sealed their important victory when PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo beat Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to the ball and gave it to Frenkie de Jong, sealing victory with only six minutes remaining,

The Senegal team was without injured key forward Sadio Mane during the match and without one of their best attackers against a strong team like the Netherlands. However, even without their best scorer, the Senegalese were able to trouble the Dutch defense, according to the BBC.

Group A action happened at the Al Thumama Stadium, which saw a sea of orange fans cheering for the Oranje side, while a more colorful side cheered for the Senegalese.

Watford winger Ismaila Sarr became the best player for the reigning African champions, while Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong played hero for the Dutch.
