The pro wrestling world was in shock when Jay Briscoe, former ROH World Champion and current ROH tag team champion, passed away. Now, police have revealed that his two daughters were in the car with him and are in critical condition following the crash.

The accident happened when the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 veered into the lane where the Pugh family was driving and hit their vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Both Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, and the other vehicle's driver, Lillyanne Ternahan, were pronounced dead, with Briscoe's daughters surviving.

However, the two girls were taken by an ambulance to a nearby hospital and are currently in critical condition, according to TMZ.

The wrestler's wife and mother of the two girls, Ashley Pugh, posted on social media and asked for prayers, saying, Gracie is on her way into surgery on her back."

She added that her husband would "want the whole world praying for his little girl. WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER!! "

Investigations are still ongoing, though the Delaware State Police admitted they still do not know if alcohol was involved in the crash.

Jay Briscoe Death Forces WWE to Change a Planned Segment

Before Jay Briscoe's passing, WWE was planning to hold a "funeral" segment on NXT. It involved the New Day holding a "funeral" for Pretty Deadly's title shot, per Wrestling Inc. However, that planned segment was scrapped immediately following the news of Jay Briscoe's death.

New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were already in formal attire for the segment, but they soon improvised with Woods saying that they were wearing some nice clothes to celebrate being "done" with Pretty Deadly.

NXT commentator Vic Joseph also mentioned Briscoe's death during the broadcast and offered condolences to the Pugh family as well as the late wrestler's friends.

Pugh was a multi-time ROH world champion and is the current ROH tag team champion, alongside his brother, Mark Briscoe. The brothers won the ROH tag belts a record 13 times together, and have even been inducted into the promotion's inaugural Hall of Fame.
