Kellie Pickler's husband, Kyle Jacobs, has died. Authorities said the 49-year-old country songwriter was found dead of an "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The Nashville Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that Jacobs was found "deceased" in the singer's Nashville, Tennessee home on Friday.

In a statement, police said the death of Pickler's husband "is being investigated as an apparent suicide." Police noted that Pickler told investigators that she woke up but did not see her husband, so she started looking for him.

Police said Pickler's personal assistant called 911 after she and Pickler were "unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office."

From 2015 to 2017, the pair starred together in "I Love Kellie Pickler," a CMT reality show that ran for three seasons. The series followed the married couple as they balanced their professional and personal lives. In 2017, Jacobs told Yahoo's BUILD series that they "just do everything we can just to be real."

"We love laughing through life. We love to do that, and that's what the show is. Our show is love and laughter," he said.

He added that there were "always stresses in life... and I think if you [and] especially with your significant other can laugh at a lot of it and laugh through it, then you're in a good spot."

In an interview with E! News last year, Pickler said she and Jacobs enjoy a more low-key lifestyle because of their famous status. She noted that she punches in for work, does her job, then becomes a wife when she gets home.

Pickler said she hates the word "celebrity" as it dehumanizes people, so she leaves that world as soon as possible and keeps her feet on the ground. Pickler further noted that she has healthy boundaries with other professionals in the industry.

Kyle Jacobs Career

Kellie Pickler's husband, Kyle Jacobs, has collaborated and written songs for many artists throughout his career, including Kelly Clarkson, Clay Walker, Randy Travis, Josh Kelley, and Scott McCreery.

He has been honored with the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music Awards, and a Grammy nomination. A day before his death, Jacobs uploaded on Instagram a screenshot of Brice Lee's album "My World," which received an RIAA platinum certification on Thursday.

"Platinum?! SWEEEET!! An amazing crew of incredibly talented peeps put this one together... Deeply honored to be a creative part of it... Thank you Jesus!!!" wrote Jacobs, who produced the album.

In updating his fans about his Spotify numbers late last year, Jacobs said it was "kinda cool seeing how a song created in a little room on music row can reach so many people... Feeling very blessed right now," Rolling Stone reported.
