Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg allegedly asked an employee to "please resign" after the worker disclosed information to the media, according to a leaked email he sent more than a decade ago.

The leaked email in 2010 showed Zuckerberg saying that the leak from an internal meeting about the social media network's future plans was an "act of betrayal," the New York Post reported.

In the email, Zuckerberg noted that he was asking whoever leaked the information to "resign immediately," adding that those who ever believed that it was appropriate to leak internal information "should leave."

The tech mogul then issued a threat to the employee, whom he believed leaked the information. He said they would "almost certainly find out" who they were anyway if they did not file their resignation.

The letter, which started with the "Confidential - Do Not Share" line, was posted on Internal Tech Emails' Twitter account Sunday. It has already garnered more than 3 million views.

The leaked information was about the company building a mobile phone that was published in TechCrunch, and Zuckerberg denied it.

"We're not building a phone and I spoke at length... about what we're actually doing - building ways to make all phones and apps more social... This was an act of betrayal," he wrote in the letter.

Mark Zuckerberg Leading Meta Platforms

It was not the first time Mark Zuckerberg faced a problem with his employee. In 2016, a former Facebook employee was fired from his account executive position.

The said employee wrote a book claiming that Zuckerberg ruled the social media company with an "iron fist."

The author was Antonio Garcia Martinez, who likened the company to a "cult." He also noted that Zuckerberg's leadership style has similarities with North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un.

Meanwhile, a new lawsuit awaits Zuckerberg and Meta Platforms' top dogs, accusing them of failing to address sex trafficking and child sexual exploitation on Facebook and Instagram.

NDTV reported that the complaint was made public on Monday by several pension and investment funds that the company's leadership has failed to protect the firm and shareholders' interests.

The complaint said the only "logical inference" in the board's failure to explain how it addresses the problem is that it has "consciously decided to permit Meta Platforms to promote and facilitate sex/human trafficking."

The social media company has rejected the basis for the lawsuit, saying that the suit's claims "mischaracterize" their efforts to fight that activity.

Zuckerberg told Congress in 2019 that child exploitation was "one of the most serious threats" they focus on.
