The body of a 2-year-old missing Florida boy was reportedly found in an alligator's mouth on Friday in St. Petersburg, Florida, per CNN.

Taylen Mosley's mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, was discovered dead in her apartment on Thursday with numerous stab wounds, and the boy was reported missing, St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said at a news conference on Friday.

Police saw an alligator with something in its mouth in Dell Homes Park, which is just a few miles from where Jeffery's body was found, said Holloway, adding that the reptile released the object after an officer fired one round at it.

After retrieving the object, police discovered Taylen's corpse intact.

"We didn't want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family now," Holloway said.

Authorities have not yet revealed Taylen's cause of death or how he came to be in the park, citing an ongoing inquiry.

Missing Florida Boy's Father Charged with Murder

A birthday celebration was held in Jeffery's St. Petersburg apartment, attended by family members Friday. At around 5:15 p.m. EDT, everyone departed the apartment, leaving the Florida boy and his parents alone.

Thomas, per his arrest report, departed the property at 8:42 p.m. EDT and headed south toward Lake Maggiore from downtown St. Petersburg, where the missing Florida boy, Taylen Mosely's corpse was discovered, close to the lake in Dell Holmes Park, according to WSOC-TV.

Thomas returned to his mother's house Wednesday with cuts on his arms after spending his birthday with Jeffery, said the arrest affidavit, adding that the slippage that led to his arm's injuries occurred during a knife assault, ABC News noted.

Meanwhile, when Jeffery's family visited her on Thursday, they found blood on the sidewalk close to her flat and her corpse with over a hundred stab wounds, said the complaint.

The arrest affidavit also states that a bloody shoe print with the Gucci emblem and a bloody fingerprint belonging to Mosley was discovered on a cleaning bottle under a bed in Jeffery's residence.

Thomas Mosley, 21, faces two charges of first-degree murder, one for Jeffery, and one for the missing Florida boy, Taylen Mosley, according to Holloway. He was brought to a hospital to receive treatment for his minor injuries, police said.

The Authorities Have Conducted an All-Out Search for the Missing Florida Boy

Yolanda Fernandez, the public information manager for the St. Petersburg Police Department, has stated that locating the missing Florida boy is a top priority despite the ongoing investigation into the homicide of Pashun Jeffery.

The search for the missing Florida boy involved the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and numerous off-duty law enforcement personnel.

The authorities had all hands on deck, and every detective worked double shifts to assist in the search, said Fernandez, adding that the longer the missing Florida boy is gone, the more complex the search will become.

"We need to find this child," she stated.

The investigation team is looking through local security tapes for any leads.

"They are going door to door to see if anybody has any type of camera or if anything that they saw law night or saw today was suspicious so we can follow up on those leads," Holloway noted.
