Police are looking for a missing two-year-old Florida boy whose mother was discovered dead in their apartment in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

According to Fox 13, Taylen Mosley turned two on March 12 and is now the subject of a statewide Amber Alert

At a news conference on Thursday night, St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said Mosley and his 20-year-old mother, Pashun Jeffery, were last seen on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. outside of their Lincoln Shores apartment on 4th Street North in St. Pete.

"Our main concern is we need to find this two-year-old," Holloway said.

According to Holloway, a witness reported hearing "a commotion" coming from Jeffery's home on Wednesday night, but police were not called.

"Earlier today, the family did not hear from the deceased, so they asked the apartment manager to check on them," Holloway noted.

Jeffery's body was found around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators believe she was killed inside her apartment.

Missing Florida Boy Was Probably Kidnapped

The Florida boy "could be in danger," according to the authorities, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Taylen Mosley was classified as a "kidnapped child" based on the Amber Alert notification sent to mobile devices.

After not hearing from Pashun Jeffery for some time, authorities said a concerned relative went to the apartment on Thursday afternoon and discovered her body and that her son was missing. Police said the mother was killed in a "very violent homicide scene."

There was a heavy police presence at the compound after her body was discovered. Police examined a blue Nissan car outside Jeffery's building and placed cones to mark potential evidence.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit brought in a bloodhound to locate the child. A police helicopter and several drones are helping in the search.

A team of narcotics unit cops was also spotted in the building. Authorities took a quick look at a reservoir close to Jeffery's apartment. A dumpster was also hauled away in a flatbed vehicle so it could be searched for evidence.

Authorities Conduct All Out Search for the Florida Boy

While authorities are investigating the murder of Pashun Jeffery, Yolanda Fernandez, St. Petersburg Police Public Information Manager, said their priority is to find the Florida boy.

No one in the family has Taylen Mosley, and he is not even with his father, News Channel 8 reported. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and many off-duty officers were called to help look for the Florida boy.

"We have all hands on deck," said Fernandez, adding that every detective is on double shifts, and everyone is coming to help with the search.

"The longer he is missing, the more difficult this gets. We need to find this child," she added.

Detectives are searching the area for any surveillance footage that may be relevant.

"They are going door to door to see if anybody has any type of camera or if anything that they saw law night or saw today was suspicious so we can follow up on those leads," Holloway noted.
