The California Highway Patrol reported that a 5-year-old girl was shot and murdered on a Bay Area motorway at around 7 pm on Saturday, per ABC News.

The I-880 shooting that killed the California girl is just one of two recorded shootings in the area, said Santa Cruz police.

Santa Cruz County authorities arrested three individuals, adding that they pulled over a vehicle at 9:30 pm on suspicion that the driver was engaged in the shootings.

"The vehicle did not yield, and a pursuit was initiated," police said. "During the pursuit on Hwy 17, officers observed the vehicle's occupants discarding a firearm from the car. The suspect driver stopped a short distance later."

The police said they found the gun that had been tossed from the car afterward.

California Girl and Family Went Out for Dinner When Fatal I-880 Shooting Happened

The California girl, Eliyanah Crisostomo, and her family were going to the Milpitas Outback Steakhouse, according to their friends.

They were driving along I-880 when a car drew up alongside them and opened fire. Eliyanah was killed within 30 seconds after the third shot hit her, according to ABC 7.

The California Highway Patrol's dispatch from the scene can be heard on Broadcastify audio.

"I have a person who just drove up on me. A person has gunshot wounds. Southbound 880, south of Dixon Landing," said a dispatch member.

The California girl is counting down the days until her birthday on April 21 and looks forward to Easter.

California Police Investigate Another Shooting in Fremont Boulevard

California Police in Fremont are searching for a shooter who confronted a pedestrian Saturday night and opened fire, KRON 4 reports.

The pedestrian escaped unharmed and ran into the neighborhood, where he hid until police located him.

The incident started on Saturday at 6:37 pm in the 37000 block of Fremont Boulevard.

The altercation and subsequent shooting of the pedestrian occurred after the suspect car had drawn up to the victim on foot.

The car quickly fled the crime, and the vehicle and its passenger remained unidentified.

Major Crimes Task Force detectives from the Fremont Police Department are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, A pursuit on Highway 17 began after police say they spotted a car they believe was involved in the shooting in Fremont.

Both the CHP and the police in Scotts Valley were able to apprehend the fugitives.

A gun allegedly thrown from the vehicle was found by the Scotts Valley police K9 unit near the Mount Hermon exit, according to the authorities.

The three suspects arrested may have ties to the fatal I-880 shooting in which the California girl was killed, according to authorities.

Police are also investigating whether this gunshot is related to the one in Fremont.

The Santa Cruz and Fremont police departments have not yet released any information on whether the three suspects were involved in the gunshot that occurred on the interstate. They stated that they anticipate having further details regarding this case by Monday, said FOX 2.
