Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' feud with Disney World may cost his state billions as North Carolina lawmakers try to entice the company to move to Tar Heel State.

DeSantis has been feuding with Disney after the company opposed his so-called "Don't Say Gay" law, which prevents discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in Florida public schools.

In retaliation for its criticisms of his policies, DeSantis signed into law a bill to remove the self-governing status of Disney World and placed his own board of directors, only for Disney to strip of its power even before they took over.

North Carolina State Sen. Michael Garrett, a Democrat, has filed Senate Bill 594, or the "Mickey's Freedom Restoration Act," to give Disney a place to set up not just Disney World but also the EPCOT Center, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, as well as other parks, hotels, and golf courses.

Garrett is not alone in this, as Democratic state Senator Chad Chaudhuri, the Senate minority whip, and State Senator Sydney Batch are also on board in enticing Disney out of Florida and into North Carolina.

"North Carolina is a great place to do business," Garrett said. "Politicians who put their state's economy at risk to boost their own selfish political ambitions are a liability."

He added that he welcomed "the Walt Disney Company and all other businesses seeking refuge from the culture war madness currently gripping the great state of Florida."

Garrett admitted that they have not spoken to Disney yet, but the bill would establish "a commission to identify sites, infrastructure investments, and incentive packages that would be needed."

Florida Will Lose Billions Should Disney World Move to North Carolina

Ron DeSantis's feud with Disney World could cost Florida billions of dollars should the company be enticed to move to North Carolina.

DeSantis has since teased that he would build a competing theme park and a state prison next to Disney World as retaliation for stripping his board of their control.

According to MSN, Disney is one of the biggest employers in Florida at the moment and the state's most significant taxpayer due to Disney World.

Should the theme park move to North Carolina, the state will gain billions in tax and tourism revenue, while Florida might lose more than $75 billion annually.

Other Republicans Criticizing Ron DeSantis Over Feud With Disney

The feud with Disney World has largely hurt Ron DeSantis, with national news outlets and late-night talk shows poking fun at the presumptive presidential candidate for getting outmaneuvered by the company.

DeSantis is also getting flak from other Republicans, particularly from the 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner, Donald Trump.

"DeSanctus is being absolutely destroyed by Disney," the former president wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also took a swipe at DeSantis for attacking the biggest employer in Florida, saying, "I don't think Ron DeSantis is conservative, based on actions towards Disney."

He added: "Where are we headed here now, that if you express disagreement in this country, the government is allowed to punish you? To me, that's what I always thought liberals did, and now all of a sudden here we are participating in this with a Republican Governor."
