CNN held the first major television event of the 2024 presidential campaign as it hosted Donald Trump during a town hall event. There, the former president repeated his election lies and attacked his accuser, E. Jean Carroll. He also continued telling several claims that have repeatedly been disproven in court, as well as fact checks from various outlets.

The former president, who lost the 2020 presidential elections to Joe Biden, has repeatedly claimed that the elections were rigged despite courts dismissing a majority of the cases his attorneys have filed.

He is currently running again in 2024, and during the CNN town hall, host Kaitlan Collins asked him if he would accept the results regardless of the outcome. However, the former president stated he would only accept "If it's an honest election."

CNN reported that throughout the town hall event, Trump repeated his false claims and even refused to acknowledge that he lost. Collins pressed him on this and even pointed out that the election was not rigged, with Trump's own election officials confirming it.

"It was not a rigged election. It was not a stolen election. You and your supporters lost more than 60 court cases in the election. It's been nearly two and a half years. Can you publicly acknowledge that you did lose the 2020 election?" the CNN host asked.

However, Trump merely repeated his debunked claims, including millions of votes being found on government cameras, as well as ballot box stuffing, which has repeatedly been disproven in courts and rejected by judges as there was no evidence of this happening.

Donald Trump Calls E. Jean Carroll a 'Whack Job'

Donald Trump appeared at the CNN Town Hall in New Hampshire fresh off losing his rape case filed by former Elle magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll. While he was not found liable for rape, he was found liable for battery and sexual assault and must now pay $5 million.

According to the Associated Press, the former president reiterated that he did not even know Carroll and called the writer a "whack job." However, images of the two together at various events and social gatherings show otherwise.

The case has placed the spotlight on Trump's sexual harassment and treatment of women through the years, with a dozen women, including Carroll, accusing him of sexual assault or harassment.

Donald Trump Repeated Immigration Claims

The Guardian reported that Trump's CNN town hall was full of "falsehoods, lies, and misinformation throughout." They ran a fact check on some of Trump's claims, including immigration.

During the event, the former president asserted that other countries are sending migrants from "mental institutions" into the US. However, Trump did not present any evidence of this happening, and CNN stated that they did a "broad search" for any evidence of this story, though they could not find anything. Even anti-immigration groups have no idea what Trump was talking about.

Trump also claimed that Biden has an "open borders" policy. However, it was pointed out that the Biden administration has maintained many of the policies of the Trump administration, and it has even announced the sending of around 1,500 active-duty troops to the US-Mexico border.
