A small airplane crashed into a hangar in Southern California on Sunday, causing a fire and the deaths of all three people aboard the aircraft.

According to CBS News, the aircraft crashed during departure as it was about to leave the Cable Airport in Upland, California, which is approximately 35 miles from Los Angeles. Only the pilot and the two passengers aboard the plane were killed as the incident happened around 6:30 am Pacific Time.

Soon after the crash, firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department quickly responded and found the crashed plane engulfed in flames. They were able to get the blaze under control in under 20 minutes, avoiding a larger catastrophe as the hangar and a fuel truck were nearby and would have been exposed to the flames has the fire not been controlled quickly.

The hangar where the plane crashed into is often used to support Ontario Police Department's Aviation Unit, as the local police housed several of its helicopters at that location. The damage to the hangar was only moderate, with nobody else, including the firefighters who fought the blaze, reportedly hurt.

The aircraft that crashed into the southern California hangar was identified as a Beechcraft P35. It only had three people aboard, though authorities still have not publicly released the names of the three victims.

The Federal Aviation Authority is now on the case and is investigating the southern California plane crash already. It is conducting the investigation alongside the National Transportation Safety Board, according to the Associated Press. So far, neither has released any details on the crash yet.

Meanwhile, images from the crash site have surfaced and it showed firefighters working to control the fire from the downed plane. The images also showed that the crash caused a hole in the side of the hangar. Debris can also be seen littering the ground of the Cable Airport.

Another Plane Crashed in Southern California Earlier This Month

This is not the only plane crash in Southern California during the month of July 2023, as a Cessna C550 crashed near Murrieta, California, which is between Los Angeles and San Diego, last July 8. The plane crashed in a field near French Valley Airport after departing from the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas at about 3:15 a.m.

Six people have been confirmed dead in that California plane crash as the plane was making its second landing attempt at that nearby airport. Deputies from the Riverside County Sherriff's Department and firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department responded to the crash, with the latter containing a blaze that burned about one acre of vegetation.

Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are also investigating that crash. The names of those who died were not released to the public either.
