Donald Trump lost in court again, this time against CNN. The Ex-POTUS claimed that CNN calling his claims that the election was stolen the "Big Lie" is defamation. However, a federal judge thinks otherwise and threw out his defamation lawsuit.

In that now-rejected lawsuit, Trump claimed that CNN referencing his efforts to overturn the 2020 election as "the Big Lie" was equal to comparing him to Adolf Hitler. Because of this, he sought $475 million in punitive damages against the news network, claiming that CNN's reporting and use of the phrase hurt his reputation and political career, according to NPR.

However, as Politico reported, US District Judge Raag Singhal, a Trump appointee himself, ruled against the former president, saying that the ex-POTUS's defamation claims failed because the references were opinions and not factual statements.

The judge also added that the phrase would not connect "Trump's efforts challenging the 2020 election results to Nazi propaganda or Hitler's genocidal and authoritarian regime."

"CNN's use of the phrase 'the Big Lie' in connection with Trump's election challenges does not give rise to a plausible inference that Trump advocates the persecution and genocide of Jews or any other group of people," wrote the Trump-appointed judge in his decision. "Being 'Hitler-like' is not a verifiable statement of fact that would support a defamation claim."

Donald Trump Filed Several Lawsuits Against Media Outlets, Many Already Dismissed

In his lawsuit, Donald Trump accused CNN of perpetrating a "campaign of dissuasion in the form of libel and slander" and of creating a "false and incendiary association" between him and Hitler. However, this was not the only time Trump filed a lawsuit against news outlets and lost.

According to CNN, Donald Trump also filed defamation lawsuits against the Washington Post and the New York Times over their reporting. He objected to their coverage of the 2020 elections and also their reporting of its aftermath.

He previously lost a defamation suit against CNN and also lost to the New York Times last May after a judge tossed out his lawsuit against the newspaper.

CNN itself declined to comment on the decision, though Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung took a shot at the outlet despite losing the case, saying, "We agree with the highly respected judge's findings that CNN's statements about President Trump are repugnant."

Donald Trump's Legal Woes Continue

With a judge tossing out his lawsuit against CNN, the former president still faces plenty of legal challenges as he tries to make it back to the White House in 2024.

While he already lost his civil rape case against E. Jean Carroll, the former Elle Magazine columnist updated her lawsuit after Trump lashed out against the decision. However, that's just a civil case. He has plenty of criminal cases going on.

Reuters pointed out that Special Counsel Jack Smith is investigating him over January 6 and the classified documents scandal. He has already been charged with the latter, with charges expected to happen in the former soon.

Over in Georgia, Fulton County DA Fani Willis is looking into his alleged attempts at manipulating the results of the state's elections, with indictments expected to be announced in August. Meanwhile, in New York, he is facing criminal charges over the hush money payments he made to porn star Stormy Daniels as he was running for president in 2016.
