Former Trump attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had admitted he lied about the elections. He is currently facing legal trouble over his claims that the 2020 elections were stolen and has now acknowledged that he made "false" statements regarding two Georgia election workers.

The former mayor claimed that the two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, engaged in voter fraud during the 2020 election. The two sued him for defamation but Giuliani argued that what he said was constitutionally protected speech. However, his recent admission changes things.

The court filing that featured Giuliani's concession stated that he admits or the purposes of the litigation, "to the extent the statements were statements of fact and otherwise actionable, such actionable factual statements were false."

In the two-page stipulation, the disgraced Donald Trump attorney admitted that "he does not dispute for purposes of this litigation, that the statements carry meaning that is defamatory per se," and stated that he will not contest the "factual elements of liability" raised by the two plaintiffs.

However, while he admitted to lying, Rudy Giuliani still argued that what he said was still constitutionally protected statements or opinions and he still maintained that he did not cause the two election workers any damage, according to CBS News.

The concession came as the former New York City mayor faced sanctions from US District Judge Beryl Howell over his discovery obligations for the case. The two plaintiffs may be awarded certain attorneys' fees and costs should the sanctions have been imposed.

Rudy Giuliani Admission To Lying About 2020 Elections May Not Save Him, Say Legal Experts

While Giuliani has since doubled down on not being liable despite admitting that he lied, legal experts are casting doubt on the former mayor's strategy, as Yahoo! News pointed out,

Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig stated that it was "remarkable" to see a defamation lawsuit defendant "admit 'yes, what I said was false'" but still deny any liability.

She called his attacks on the two election workers "one of the most despicable, over-the-top lies" and added, "What he seems to be trying to do is limit this question to, 'Was it constitutionally protected speech?' You have a lot of range when it comes to First Amendment political speech, but I cannot conceive how you justify attacking innocent civilian poll workers falsely like this."

National security attorney Bradley Moss also thinks that the Giuliani strategy will ultimately fail, saying, "This is horribly written, contradicts itself, and will not suffice."

Donald Trump's 'Elite Strike Force' Now Facing Hard Times

Trump critics often joke that MAGA really means "Make Attorneys Get Attorneys," and this seems to hold true for the former president's lawyers who are facing legal troubles themselves over their actions while representing Donald Trump.

Aside from Giuliani, who is facing a slew of lawsuits and may possibly also be charged by Special Counsel Jack Smith over the January 6 investigation, other Trump lawyers have themselves also lawyered up. Sidney Powell, the infamous "Kraken" lawyer constantly claimed that the elections were stolen and is facing legal trouble over those claims herself. Meanwhile, Giuliani has his New York law license suspended and may find himself disbarred.

Meanwhile, Politico noted that another Trump lawyer, Jenna Ellis, was censured by a judge in Colorado over her false claims regarding the election while former Trump legal adviser John Eastman, may have his law license rebuked for helping plan the January 6 insurrection. He is also one of the possible defendants to be charged in Jack Smith's January 6 investigation.
