Donald Trump lawyer and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani might lose his law license after a Washington disciplinary panel said he should be disbarred over his spread of misinformation regarding the 2020 presidential elections.

The 3-member panel wrote in their findings that the former New York City mayor "claimed massive election fraud but had no evidence." The panel's report detailed the errors and unsupported claims that Giuliani made when he filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania as part of his and Donald Trump's efforts to overturn Joe Biden's presidential win.

"Mr. Giuliani's effort to undermine the integrity of the 2020 presidential election has helped destabilize our democracy," the members of the panel wrote, citing that what he did transcended all of his previous accomplishments. They added, "It was unparalleled in its destructive purpose and effect. He sought to disrupt a presidential election and persists in his refusal to acknowledge the wrong he has done."

This is a panel in Washington DC, with New York already suspending his law license after the false statements that he made regarding the elections. The DC Court of Appeals will now decide the former New York City mayor's fate, according to the Associated Press.

Rudy Giuliani Spokesperson Speaks Out Against Disciplinary Panel's Findings

Following the recommendation, a spokesperson for the embattled Trump attorney, Ted Goodman, blasted the decision.

"The decision-makers at the DC Bar Association are nothing more than an arm of the permanent regime in Washington," he said. "This is also part of an effort to deny President Trump effective counsel by persecuting Rudy Giuliani-objectively one of the most effective prosecutors in American history."

He also called on rank-and-file members of the DC Bar Association and urged them to speak out against what he call a "great injustice."

However, the Washington panel found that Giuliani could not back his claims of election fraud and found that his suggestion of throwing out hundreds of thousands of lawful votes to help Trump win Pennsylvania was draconian, according to Politico.

"The hearing clearly and convincingly disclosed that there was no such evidence: Respondent based the Pennsylvania litigation only on speculation, mistrust, and suspicion," said the panel in the recommendation, pointing out that Giuliani's claims were not only frivolous but also caused "irreparable harm to the entire nation."

Georgia Poll Workers Billed Rudy Giuliani Their Legal Fees After Lawsuit

Much like his client, Donald Trump, Giuliani is also facing court battles left and right. One of his most recent ones is in Georgia where two poll workers sued him for defamation over his false election claims.

Giuliani lost that case last month, with the two plaintiffs now billing the man once dubbed as "America's Mayor" their legal fees, according to The Daily Beast. The bill totaled $89,172, which the Georgia lawyers say is "less than half" of what they normally charge.

The final figure of how much Giuliani would have to pay the poll workers and their lawyer is still up to US District Judge Beryl Howell, who previously found that the former mayor "arbitrarily limited his search" of an email server and "conducted only an imprecise 'manual search' of his text messages." This caused a 10-month delay in the case.
