Country singer Darius Rucker, well-known for his role as the lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, found himself in legal trouble in Tennessee, where he was arrested on Thursday, according to TMZ.

The charges primarily revolve around an alleged handoff related to controlled substances, along with a violation of the state's vehicle registration law.

Rucker was taken into custody in Williamson County, where he resides, and was booked on three misdemeanors.

The charges include two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violating the state's vehicle registration law.

The latter charge pertains to an alleged expiration of the tags on his car.

The arrest occurred around 10 AM PT, and Rucker was released approximately an hour later after posting bail.

His attorney, Mark Puryear, confirmed that Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities in connection with these misdemeanor charges.

Darius Rucker's Music Journey and Recent Achievements

Darius Rucker, renowned for his role in Hootie & the Blowfish, embarked on a solo career in 2008, The Hindustan Times reports.

His latest album, "Carolyn's Boy," released in October, marked his return to solo work after six years.

The album holds personal significance as it is dedicated to his late mother, Carolyn, who passed away in 1992.

"I think about her every day, even though she's been gone for so long," Rucker said. "She was my biggest champion... I hope I'm making her proud."

Rucker's solo career has been met with acclaim, earning him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December.

During the ceremony, he expressed deep love for his three children, Carolyn, Daniella, and Jack, emphasizing that they are his heart and soul.

In a heartfelt message, he conveyed the joy of being their father, emphasizing that, despite career achievements, nothing compares to the role of a dad.

Personal Struggles and Turning Point

While Hootie & the Blowfish gained notoriety for their party-hearty image, Darius Rucker has been open about distancing himself from that lifestyle, Yahoo! Entertainment noted.

In past interviews, he acknowledged the band's history of "doing drugs and drinking every night" but stated that those days are behind him.

After embracing the roles of husband and father, Rucker underwent a significant transformation, leaving behind the party lifestyle.

"It's just not how I want to live anymore," he noted.

Meanwhile, despite going through a separation from his wife of 20 years, Beth Leonard, Rucker remains focused on maintaining a sense of family for the sake of their children, per Fox News.

"That stuff hurts, and you feel like a failure," Darius Rucker said, noting that they are not officially divorced yet.

He emphasized that, despite the challenges, they are still a family, and Beth's understanding and support have been crucial during this period.

"We're still a family, and that's all because Beth is awesome," he said. "She knows it's the best for the kids, and she's a great human being."
