YouTuber Jake Paul is continuing his boxing career, this time taking on boxing legend Mike Tyson in Texas. This has fans divided as Paul is one of the most controversial fighters in boxing today while Mike Tyson, despite being one of the most dominant fighters in the 80's and early 90's, is now 57. The event will be streamed on Netflix.

The match is set for July 20, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This will be the first time that Netflix has ventured into combat sports and also their third live sporting event overall.

According to ESPN, the event was announced as part of the streaming giant's deal with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), with co-founder Nakisa Bidarian confirming they made a deal with Netflix on November 1.

"Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is a once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup and I anticipate it will be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history," the MVP executive stated in the announcement of the fight, which will pit 58-year-old Mike Tyson against a man over 30 years younger than him.

Mike Tyson Vs. Jake Paul Expected To Raise Eyebrows

The match is expected to garner plenty of criticism and attention and it is not just because Tyson has passed his prime and almost 60 already and still trying to fight younger fighters, as Jake Paul is known to cause plenty of controversy and is widely hated by many in the boxing world.

Nevertheless, the match will still push through in July, though it is still unclear if the bout will be an exhibition match given the possible weight disparity, or an actual pro fight. It is also unclear how the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which sanctions and regulates combat sports in the state, will be approaching thiseyebrow-raising matchup.

As Sporting News noted, many are concerned over Mike Tyson's age. While at his peak, he was considered an unstoppable monster, many question what he could do now that he is in his late 50s and up against a man three decades his junior.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson Release Statements on Their Upcoming Fight

Paul has been described by critics as a young and brash YouTuber who got into professional boxing just through clout alone. However, they cannot deny that he has knockout power and that he has already beaten several professionals in his weight class. He released a statement shortly after the fight was announced.

"My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep," the brash YouTuber and boxer said in a statement on social media.

Meanwhile, Mike Tyson, considered one of the greatest boxers ever, released a statement that is a lot more humble than his opponent's, saying, "I'm very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He's grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a 'kid' can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It's a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him."
