The renowned rapper Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, have been directed by a judge to pay $500,000 for an alleged backstage assault, ruling on Friday, March 22.

The incident traces back to a 2019 concert in Frankfurt, Germany, where a fan breached security and joined Minaj onstage, triggering a sequence of events leading to the alleged backstage assault, according to Rolling Stone.

Security guard Thomas Weidenmuller, who lives in Germany, recounted the incident in a lawsuit filed in an LA court, alleging that Minaj blamed a female security guard for the fan's intrusion, leading to a confrontation.

"While Nicki screamed obscenities at me, Kenneth repositioned himself out of my eyesight and without warning struck me in the face, which stunned and disoriented me," Thomas Weidenmuller stated, "Because of the surprise nature of the attack, I am not sure as to whether Petty hit me with his fist or with a weapon," he added.

Weidenmuller intervened, prompting Minaj to reportedly throw a shoe at him and Petty to allegedly punch him, resulting in a broken jaw and hospitalization for several surgeries.

Weidenmuller initially sought $21,000 for medical expenses and $700,000 for emotional distress but was awarded over $500,000 in a default judgment as Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty failed to respond to the lawsuit.

Efforts to serve the couple with the complaint were unsuccessful, with repeated attempts via mail and process servers.

Meanwhile, representatives for Minaj and Petty have yet to comment on the matter.

Backstage Assault Details

Following the fan's brief onstage appearance during Minaj's performance, the rapper reportedly confronted the female security guard, blaming her for the breach, XXL noted.

Despite an apology from the guard, Nicki Minaj insisted on recording another apology, allegedly hurling insults and shoes at her.

Nicki Minaj, husband Kenneth Petty, then allegedly accused Weidenmuller of being involved with the guard romantically before reportedly assaulting him.

Weidenmuller sustained a broken jaw from the encounter, leading to a prolonged hospital stay.

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding Minaj, including a viral video showing a heated exchange backstage during a concert.

Some fans defended Minaj's actions, while others criticized her for overreacting.

Amidst the Drama: Lighthearted Moments

Despite the turmoil, Minaj recently had a playful interaction with a fan during a concert, where she invited them to sing along but jokingly reclaimed the microphone due to their off-key performance, Yahoo! Entertainment reports.

Legal proceedings continued as Weidenmuller's legal team faced challenges in serving Minaj and Petty with the lawsuit, resorting to publishing the summons in a newspaper after failed attempts via mail and process servers.

There has been no response from representatives of Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty to requests for comment on the lawsuit.

Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, facing his own legal issues, was placed under house arrest following threatening remarks and was sentenced to three years of probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California, stemming from a previous conviction in New York.
