Alejandra Guzmán

Mexican artist Alejandra Guzmán delivered some difficult news to her fans: all of her Brilla Tour concerts scheduled for 2025 have been rescheduled until 2026. The reason, as she confirmed in a statement, is a surgical procedure she underwent shortly after her performance in Monterrey last Friday, July 18.

"This decision hasn't been easy to make," the singer wrote, "but it's necessary to ensure that when I return to the stage, I can do so with the energy, dedication, and quality you deserve."

Guzmán, always open with her audience, expressed gratitude and hope. She also announced that she will soon release a new song, "prepared with much love," as a gift to those who have been by her side through thick and thin.

A body marked by rock... and by surgeries

This isn't the first time health issues have forced Alejandra Guzmán to take a break. The singer has endured a genuine medical battle for over a decade. It all began in 2009, when she underwent a cosmetic procedure to augment her buttocks with biopolymers, a substance that caused infections, skin necrosis, and physical and emotional pain that plagued her for years.

From there, a long series of surgeries began: it's estimated he's undergone more than 40 operations to remove the toxic material from his body. "They removed something the size of a hamburger," he once stated in past interviews. But despite medical efforts, a percentage of the polymers remains in his body to this day.

The consequences soon spread to his bone structure. In 2013, and again in 2016, Guzmán received titanium prostheses in both hips to replace the damaged bone, which had been affected by both natural wear and tear and the infiltrated material.

Falls, prostheses and lower back pain

The demands of the stage, the jumps, the heels, and Guzmán's signature moves haven't helped her recovery. In September 2022, while performing a concert in Washington, she suffered a fall that caused a dislocation of one of her hip prostheses. Although she managed to leave the hospital hours later, the consequences were more profound: she began to develop radicular compression syndrome in her lower back, which has caused mobility problems and chronic pain.

This same diagnosis was the reason why he had to cancel a performance in Nuevo Laredo in 2023, as his neurological symptoms intensified.

What happened in Monterrey?

So far, no details have been released about what type of surgery she underwent after the Monterrey concert, but everything suggests it may be related to her hip or spinal problems. It's also worth noting that she underwent surgery in May for an irregular synovial cyst in her hand.

The truth is that, after taking the stage with her usual energy, the artist had to go into surgery shortly after, and doctors recommended complete rest and suspending all physical activity for several months.

The resilience of a true rocker

Throughout her career, Alejandra Guzmán has proven that no setback can stop her. Neither polymers, nor prosthetics, nor pain have kept her from her passion for singing and connecting with her audience. Therefore, although many regret not being able to see her live in 2025, there is also a deep understanding and affection for her health.

"Every message, every show of affection, and every applause drives me forward," he wrote in his statement. And with that same strength, he promises to return in 2026, stronger than ever.

Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new dates, which will be announced shortly. Refunds are also available for those who wish to receive one.

In the meantime, her fans can look forward to that new song, which she says will be a gift while she recovers.

Alejandra Guzmán, the Queen of Rock, once again proves that the stage is hers, but also that she knows when to stop, heal, and come back stronger. Because sometimes, shining also means taking care of yourself. And Guzmán knows that well.
