Germany will be considered the favorites to win in their upcoming showdown against Argentina in 2014 FIFA World Cup final, but Argentine star Lionel Messi said that they are ready for the challenge.

In a post on his official Facebook account, Messi expressed his determination to help his team win against their favored opponent, saying that he and his teammates will play the game of their lives.

"Tomorrow, we will play the most important match of our lives for our country," Messi wrote. "My dreams and my hopes are being fulfilled due to the hard work and sacrifice of a team that has given everything from match one."

Messi said that his side were able to prove their doubters wrong by reaching the finals of the tournament, but he insisted that their dream is not over yet, as his team wants to win it all for their country.

"We knew it was possible," Messi wrote. "Our people, the Argentineans, they have carried us here. But the dream is not over yet."

Germany are tipped to win it all on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro after their stellar performance in the semifinals, where they scored a dominating 7-1 win against host Brazil.

Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella admitted that they need to play a perfect game if they want to have a chance of beating the German squad in their final showdown.

"We will give everything we've got," Sabella said. "Through humility, sacrifice, hard work, simplicity. By giving instead of taking, by forgiving instead of complaining."

But on the other hand, Germany midfielder/defender Philipp Lahm vowed not to let the title slip away from their hands, saying that a win will define the legacy of what has been known since 2004 as the new generation of German football when he, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose, and Lukas Podolski started making noise on the international scene.

"We all know what's at stake. Our generation has developed and matured over the years," Lahm said via ESPN FC. "We have many players who are pillars at great international clubs. We have shown that we prepare perfectly for tournaments. We are only one step away from making our dream come true and we are fully focused on the final."
