Marcos Maidana vowed to show improvements in his upcoming rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana, who holds a 35-4 record with 31 knockouts, managed to put a lot of pressure on Mayweather's shoulder with his rugged style during their first fight, but the reigning pound-for-pound king still escaped with a majority decision win.

The 31-year-old welterweight contender admitted that he committed a lot of mistakes in their first fight and he is determined to make up for it, saying that he will become more accurate with his punches in the rematch.

"I was very anxious to go out and knock him out," Maidana said via BoxingScene. "I believe if I stay calm, use the proper distance, everything will be fine. That, and throwing more accurate punches."

Maidana, who will look to reclaim the World Boxing Organization welterweight title, said that he has been training a lot over the past several weeks in order to have a perfect fight plan and be in tip-top shape on fight night.

"Right now I'm very happy, I'm training very well, doing good sparring and I'm very focused," Maidana said. "We've doing a little bit of everything in the gym, we are practicing a lot. I have a lot of confidence in myself, in my team. We all have so much to gain and little to lose."

Raul Robles, Maidana's conditioning coach, also told BoxingScene that Maidana has been working on his style and shape, confidently saying that the Buenos Aires, Argentina native showed improvements with his punching power.

"Undoubtedly the power has improved. He throws quick punches and immediately counters back," Robles said. "Today we did work on the mountain in Arroyo Verde. He did four laps at a rapid pace, closed with 12 repetitions of sprints. He is in great shape. The workloads have declined, of course, in terms of strength but not in intensity."

Aside from getting the WBO welterweight title back, Maidana will also look to win Mayweather's World Boxing Council welterweight and light middleweight titles.
