Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has lashed out at boy band One Direction's cover of 'One Way Or Another', in an outspoken rant about mainstream pop music.

Gallagher made the comments, in which he accuses the boy band of "murdering" Blondie's 1978 track, in a new interview with GQ. The former Oasis songwriter says he also worries for the future of music.

Gallagher said: "Pretty f*cking dreadful, the music is. I can't get my head round pop music. It's all on the same frequency. It all seems designed to aggravate my teeth. You know music that makes your teeth hurt?" He adds: "There's a lack of soul. I mean, what is going to be the future of chart music?"

Moving on to One Direction, Gallagher highlights the number of people benefiting from their success while he is left losing. "Everybody's winning out of it. One Direction aren't working in the local f*cking Costcutter, so they're winning. The geezer who's writing the fucking sh*t tunes -- he's winning. He's got f*cking new houses coming out of his earholes. The record company are winning -- 'cos they're all getting their f*cking bonuses at Christmas."

Moving on to the boy band's fans, Gallagher adds: "The young 12-year-old girls are winning because one day they might actually grow up to give one of them a blowjob. They're all winning. No-one's losing. The only people who are losing are idiots like me at 9:30 in the morning when you're trying to get the kids out the door for school, and they're f*cking murdering one of Blondie's songs."

Earlier it was revealed that One Direction is working with Pharrell Williams on songs for their new album, 'Midnight Memories', due for release in November. Meanwhile,One Direction fans issued death threats to Gabriel Agbonlahor, a soccer player  of Nigerian-Scottish heritage who plays for Aston Villa as a striker.

The threats stemmed from a tackle that left the band's Louis Tomlinson vomiting on the touchline. The pair were playing at a charity football match organised by former player Stilian Petrov at Celtic Park in Glasgow. The challenge was so strong that Tomlinson had to leave the field with an injury, which caused him to be sick on his way off the field.

Since the incident, One Direction fans have sent a host of abuse to the striker on Twitter and have even issued him with death threats. A Tweet from one user @Omg_Its_Ella, whose account has since been deleted read: "This guy hurt Louis knee. I shall hurt your face. I better hear that you apologized or I will find you, and I will kill you." Another fan, @zaynoreos_, whose account has also been deleted, wrote: "I will chop your balls off".

Agbonlahor has since said that he will apologize to the singer. "It was one of those things," he told the BBC. "I'll apologise to Louis when we meet up...I know he enjoyed playing in the game and it's fantastic that he took time out to be here."
