Brian Hallisay, fiancé of Jennifer Love Hewitt, reportedly attacked a paparazzi member, and a criminal investigation is underway.

According to a report on Sunday by TMZ, Hallisay and Hewitt were leaving Toscana, a restaurant in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, when the altercation occurred.

The couple was approached by a member of the paparazzi who prepared to take pictures. Hallisay and Hewitt asked the photographer to stop, but the man continued to use his camera.

Next, Hallisay allegedly got physical with the cameraman. According to the paparazzo, Hallisay caused his camera to hit him in his face near his eye.

Hewitt apparently felt bad for the photographer. As a result, she reportedly allowed him to take a couple more pictures of herself and her fiancé before leaving.

According to TMZ's law enforcement sources, the photographer went to the police after the altercation and filed a battery report claim against Hallisay. TMZ's sources said that the photographer did not have any visible injuries on either his face or his eye when he arrived at the police station.

An investigation is still in progress, and there have yet to be any arrests.

Hewitt, 34, is currently pregnant with Hallisay's child. She co-stars with Hallisay, 34, in the Lifetime series "The Client List." Hewitt is due in December. According to the NY Daily News, Hewitt postponed the wedding so she can have the baby first. Apparently, the actress wanted to have her post-pregnancy body for the ceremony.

As this is her first child, Hewitt has a lot to prepare for.

"I think most people, when they're getting ready to be a mom, they go, 'Oh my gosh, I have to have all of the answers right now,' but every kid is different," Hewitt said in an interview with Us Weekly. "Every parent is different, and every child and parent relationship is different. So you just sort of have to wait until you're in it and do the best that you can to try and be Zen in the middle of it all."

Currently, producers of "The Client List" are brainstorming ways to fit Hewitt's pregnancy into the third season storyline for her character, Riley.
