The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its 2015 nominees and the list is impressive.

Cuban-American singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan, Jerry Garcia and Linda Perry are within the list of successful songwriters.

Tom Petty, Vince Gill, Cyndi Lauper, Elvis Costello, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Cat Stevens, Toby Keith, Steve Miller, Steve Winwood, Ann and Nancy Wilson and Harry Wayne "K.C." Casey are also nominees going up for the honor of 2015's Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Perry has been placed in the nonperforming songwriter category even though in the past she has sang and performed her own songs. Some of Perry's work includes "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera, "What You Waiting For?" by Gwen Stefani and "A Loaded Smile" by Adam Lambert.

Estefan has been long known for her 1993 hit "Mi Tierra," 1996 "Turn the Beat Around" and "You Can't Walk Away From Love" which was the soundtrack to the film "Original Sin" starring Angelina Jolie. Estefan is one of the few known artists to be called timeless and brilliant for her contribution to music over the years.

Songs written by the late Jerry Garcia include "Attics of my Life," "Shakedown Street" and "Ripple." Garcia and songwriting partners Robert Hunter, Mike Chapman, Kicky Chinn and Sandy Linzer will all be competing for the great honor.

The winners will be part of the New York Gala next June.
