Domestic violence charges have been dropped against Puerto Rico reggaeton star Don Omar.

Back in September, he was charged with two counts of abuse, two counts of threatening a person and gun violations. Police say his 26-year-old girlfriend told investigators he hit her and threatened her with a gun.

The girlfriend of Don, whose real name is William Omar Landron, refused to attend any court hearings, Fox News Latino reports. She posted a comment about not wanting to pursue the case on her Facebook page.

The judge granted a request to dismiss charges in her absence Monday. Yet, the judge said prosecutors could submit charges again if she changes her mind.

The 10-time award winner at the Billboard Latin Music Awards last year was detained in mid-September in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico over the domestic violence accusations, El Nuevo Día first reported.

Authorities were called when he threatened his girlfriend on Sept. 17 at around 1 a.m.

Lieutenant Aimée Alvarado, director of the Domestic Violence division of Bayamón, said that the investigation was still in its early stages following the arrest but would look into patterns of abuse in the past.

"There are incidents reported on different dates, different situations," Alvarado told Radio Isla 1320.

The girlfriend has accused Don for domestic violence abuse in the past although, it is unclear who made the call to police in September as police refuse to disclose that information.

Don's lawyer, Edwin Prado, told El Nuevo Día that the arrest was made "without reasonable grounds" and that the couple hadn't seen each other in almost a week.

"The reality is that not even he [Don Omar] knows why he's here," Prado said. "The police told him he was arrested because of Ley 54."

According to LexJuris, Ley 54 is a law for the prevention and intervention in cases of domestic violence in Puerto Rico.

Don is best known for hits like "Danza Kaduro" and for his role in the "Fast and Furious" film franchise.
