ABC recently followed through with its decision to cancel "Members Only" starring John Stamos ahead of the show's season premiere, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

"Members Only" was initially created as a new drama to make its debut on the ABC network's mid-season fall lineup. However, ABC execs opted to ax the show-starring Stamos and "Breaking Bad's" Betsy Brandt prior to its debut on television.

THR reports that "Members Only" was initially "picked up straight to series" with "American Hustle" director, David O' Russell and "Erin Brockovich" writer, Susannah Grant on board the series as co-writer and executive producer.

Suddenly, things took a turn for the worse for the once promising series when Russell opted out of "Members Only" just a month after agreeing to be on board, says THR.

Russell's decision to quit the series might be one of the reasons why ABC axed the show, Cinema Blend suggests.

Russell's impressive credits as an Oscar nominee were probably seen as an asset to the show.

"Despite the fact that Members Only sported an interesting cast and nabbed a 13-episode order, it's easy to see why ABC might now be dropping the drama," Cinema Blend's Jessica Rawden writes. "Originally, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle writer David O. Russell was attached to the project and expected to write along with creator Susannah Grant. A month after the straight-to-series pickup, the Oscar nominee left the project."

THR reports that "Members Only" now joins the growing list of series that have been axed from various networks.

"Emerald City" was axed from NBC along with "Mission Control," and the straight-to-series, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

Fox's ancient Egyptian series, " Hieroglyph" was also recently dropped.

"Members Only" was described as a drama that followed the members of an exclusive Connecticut country club, according to CinemaBlend.

The series was scheduled to air 13 episodes in the mid-season slot of ABC.

THR reports that the cast of "Members Only" were informed of the cancellation this past Saturday.
