Gamers might not be able to hear so well when the PlayStation 4 is released Nov. 15. Bluetooth headsets will not immediately be compatible with the new Sony system.

GameInformer spoke with Sony, who said that headset users will have to wait for a system update before they can use Sony headsets, PULSE gaming headsets, or its elite editions.

Meanwhile, other headsets that use Bluetooth will not work with PS4 at all.

Gaming headsets that use USB for chat, such as the Astro A50 wireless system and Astro mixamps, will be compatible with the PS4...eventually. In time, an update will come to make those headsets usable.

There is still hope for gamers, however.

Headsets that run on digital optical for its game audio will work with the PS4 the day it is released. The only drawback is that gamers will not be able to chat using the devices.

Xbox One is not doing much better with gaming headset options either. The system's new controller has a different connecter. Microsoft has yet to create an adapter for this new controller, thus gamers will not be able to use legacy devices to chat.

Another option for headset users include using the headset that comes in each PS4 and Xbox One box. These headsets, however, are expected to be of lower quality than many of the headsets already available. Xbox owners can also use the Kinect as a microphone.

The PS4 will be available in North America for $399 on Nov. 15. Xbox One will sell for $499 starting Nov. 22.
