The new trailer to "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" has been released showing new footage and a number action sequences.

Marvel is getting ready to open begin the summer with the second installment to the multi-billion dollar franchise and this new film promises to be action packed.

The new trailer conveys a darker tone, especially with the muted images, the voice-over and the music that is played throughout the teaser. The trailer also shows a lot of scenes with destruction and many of the close-ups show the actors with extremely sad and melancholic faces.

The trailer also shows Thor, the Hulk and Iron Man battling against each other. This resembles the first film as the three characters had a hard time getting along. However, this time the trailer lacks the jokes from the first film and also lacks the same light visuals the original installment had.

Another interesting thing that the new trailer shows is a backstory to the Black Widow. In the preview, there are a couple of sequences that show a younger black widow in a laboratory. The sequence suggests an origin story, which could likely connect to the overall arch of the new film.

There is very little known from the trailer, but according to the official synopsis, the film tells the story of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program. However, things go awry and it is up to the Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans. From the looks of this synopsis, Downey Jr.'s character will be the central figure and perhaps this is the reason many of the characters will fight against him.

The trailer, however, leaves a lot of questions open. There is still no explanation as to where the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will fit into this whole story and there is no confirmation on what Andy Serkis will play in the film. Loki's character and Heimdall are not seen in the trailer, even though they are confirmed to be in the movie, and Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker, who made a cameo at the end of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" also does not appear in the trailer.

Marvel hopes "Age of Ultron" will be a huge hit at the box office like the original installment. The first film, which opened in 2012, made over $200 million on opening weekend and broke all box office records. After 154 days in theaters, the movie ended its run with $623 million domestically and ranks as the third highest-grossing film of all time. It also made $1.5 billion worldwide and ranks as the third highest-grossing film worldwide. The movie was nominated for the Oscars for Visual Effects and critically acclaimed

"Age of Ultron" stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johannsson, Tom Hiddleston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hayley Atwell, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Andy Serkis, Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany, Stellan Skarsgard, Don Cheadle and Thomas Kretschmann. The movie is slated to open on May 2, 2015 and will be released in 3D.
