The latest Apple iPhone 6 rumors claim that the smartphone will feature a bigger screen while maintaining the ability to be fully-operated with just one hand.

Japanese web site Macotakara reported information that came from Japanese magazine Mac Fan. According to Mac Fan, Apple's next iPhone will have a 1,920-pixel by 1,080-pixel 5-inch screen with 440 pixels displayed per inch.

Despite the large screen, the Japanese rumors say that the iPhone 6 will be thin and manageable. The screen will be as "thin as possible." Because of its large screen and thin stature, the iPhone 6 will be considered Apple's first "phablet," a combination of phone and tablet, with all features reachable with the use of one hand.

The magazine does not have much of a reputation for releasing news about Apple, but its information coincides with other iPhone 6 rumors. In September, Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst known for leaking accurate information about Apple products, stated that Apple has plans to release a smartphone with a 4.5-inch to 5-inch display. According to Kuo, 5-inches is the maximum size for an Apple smartphone because Apple has an "unwavering principle of one-hand use."

A larger screen would not be completely out of character for Apple. Before the iPhone 5, all iPhones had a 3.5-inch display. When Apple released the iPhone 5 in 2012, the screen size increased to 4-inches.

Samsung already has smartphones that can be considered "phablets." Its Galaxy Note III has a 5.7-inch display, and its Galaxy Mega has a 6.3-inch display.
