Terminals 2 and 3 at Los Angeles International Airport have reportedly been evacuated after a shooting took place at the airport Friday morning, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The newspaper also said that a Transportation Security Administration agent and a suspect were wounded in the shooting.

A gunman approached the area where people pass through airport security -- despite having a rifle -- and proceeded to open fire in a busy terminal. According to LAX Airport's official Twitter feed, airport officials confirmed that the incident started at 9:30 a.m. local time. The good news is that the police caught the suspect, who was taken into custody.

Videos from the scene show passengers swarming outside before boarding buses that took them to another area.

ABC 7 snapped a shot of a TSA worker who was walking on the tarmac with a bloody hand, possibly after getting shot in the crowded terminal where the shooting took place.

Fox Sports' Bill Reiter was at the area of the shooting when it took place and wrote on Twitter about what he saw.

"When gunfire broke out there was a stampede people, all of us hiding under seats we didn't fit under, we burst through the door to outside," he tweeted.

The Federal Aviation Administration grounded flights and maps are indicating that inbound flights to LAX were being delayed.

The news of the shooting quickly permeated social media platforms. As of Friday afternoon on the East coast, LAX was trending on Twitter. ABC News is providing live video coverage from LAX.
