Ender's Game has been received well by the public, as expected. The film opened at the top of the Box Office this weekend.

E! News reported that Ender's Game finished strong on its debut weekend, which comes as no surprise to fans. The popular sci-fi tale, based on Orson Scott Card's 1985 novel, has a very strong fan base, so as predicted, it claimed the top spot at the box office, earning a hefty $28 million in two days. It edged out Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, which has been doing continuously well in the charts since last week. Bad Grandpa slips down to No. 2.

Ender's Game is a sci-fi film telling the story of a young, gifted boy who was sent to a distinct military school. The story unfolds in an apocalyptic future, where the priority task of those in the military school is to defend the planet against the invasion of aliens.

The film's all-star cast includes Asa Butterfield (as Ender), Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, and more. Acclaimed actor, Harrison Ford, also plays a critical role in this movie.

Ender's Game the film version, seemed to have delivered performed so well in the movies that the fans of the books and even those who are yet to read the books are already clamouring for the movie sequel. However, the box office is not a guarantee for a movie sequel.

According to Comicbook.com, Ender's Game is not expected to beat international money makers such as such as Thor: the Dark World and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which is a movie sequel expected to the top grossing The Hunger Games movie.

However, fans don't have to worry though. An earlier interview with Ender's Game director Gavin Hood gives hope that a sequel might be happening if the first film is embraced well - obviously, it has.

"We've got a complicated film here. I hope that it does two things. I hope that it gives the audiences the visual excitement that they want from a big movie, but it does have the challenge of asking questions that films of this kind don't usually ask. And we'll have to see whether audiences embrace that," Gavin Hood explained when asked about a sequel, the Los Angeles Times reported. "Most big popcorn movies are bad guy does something to good guy, good guy gets revenge on bad guy, sets the world right and moves on. And "Ender's Game" is just not that simple, so it's an exciting challenge. It's a little terrifying, and let's see how audiences respond. I hope they respond well so we can keep doing films that are not just goodies versus baddies."
