"All About That Bass" singer Meghan Trainor says she is flat broke despite the success of her hit song.

The Daily Star reports that the newly famous pop star has to wait until April to get paid.

"I haven't made any money yet. They say I will get a big fat check after nine months, which will be in April so I'm hoping that's right," Trainor said, adding that people assume she became rich overnight when her hit single made top charts.

In reality, Trainor cannot make any big purchases yet.

Her first full-length album "Title" dethroned Taylor Swift's "1989" album for bestselling album quickly after its release.

Her single "All About That Bass" was also nominated for two Grammys this year which include Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Trainor said her mom's positive encouragement throughout her life inspired her to write the hit song, Radio reported.

"She always is telling me, 'You're gorgeous,'" Trainor said of her mom, a.k.a. "bestie."

"Girls just destroy themselves in front of the mirrors, 'I don't look as good as everyone else, I can't wear this,' but she's like, 'You need to stop, you're gorgeous.' So I stopped."

Trainor said she went into the studio to record the song putting her best foot forward by just being herself.

"I don't know what happened. Let's just write an awesome song instead of pretending I'm Rihanna for a second," she told herself at the time. "And then the song happened and it was amazing. We knew it was special, but we didn't know how."

Trainor added, "That's your first song to say, 'Hey, I'm a little chubby, but I love myself.' That was a scary thing to do."

"I got a lot of support from a lot of people and it's really helping me and my confidence."

The 57th Grammy Awards airs on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
