Yesterday, Japanese electronics maker Sony detailed which of its devices will become updated with Android version 4.4, KitKat

Sony's Xperia products will be the first to receive the new Android version 4.4, KitKat update. The Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 will all eventually be compatible with the software upgrade.

"On that, please stay tuned to the social newsroom and @SonyMobileNews, where we'll update you with specific info on product upgrade timings & software features as things progress," Sony said in a blog post.

According to The Inquirer, it is most likely that the Sim-free handsets will be the first to get a taste of Android KitKat.

Sony also announced that Android version 4.3, Jelly Bean will become available for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 starting next month.

"We also mentioned that a few of our products would be jumping software version - so, we can confirm that Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V will be upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.3... also from next month," Sony said.

Since Jelly Bean updates will not take place until December, it is likely that Android Kit Kat updates will not follow until sometime next year

Android 4.4 KitKat's features include an improved Hangouts app with SMS integration, new user interface, enhanced dialer and caller ID features and updated cloud storage integration. Sony unveiled Android 4.4 Kit Kat with its Nexus 5 last month.
