Sony will release the PlayStation 4 in just three days, and according to analysts and the company itsself, the console will sell 3 million units by the end of 2013.

Back in 2006, the PlayStation 3 hit a bump in the sales road when its supply diminished. This time, however, Sony has enough PS4s in stock to last shoppers through Christmas, Bloomberg reports.

Earlier, it was projected that the PS4 would sell 5 million units by March, and Sony stands by that estimate. According to Colin Sebastian, an analyst for San Francisco's Robert W. Baird & Co., the PS4 will have no problem selling 3 million units this year.

"This is a marathon, not a sprint, but getting out to a nice start is a good thing," Jack Tretton, president and chief executive officer of Sony's United States computer entertainment division, told Bloomberg. "That hurdle has been cleared. We're very, very confident we're in great shape."

This year, the PS4 has the advantage of being released before Microsoft's competitor, Xbox One. The PS4 will launch Nov. 15 in North America, while the Xbox One will see a Nov. 22 release. In addition, the PS4 will reach 32 countries by the time the holidays come around, but the Xbox One will only be available in 13 countries. Originally, Xbox One was supposed to be available in 21 countries.

"We're very comfortable with it," Tretton said. "I'm excited about next week to be able to talk about what was sold as opposed to what we may sell."

The PS4 will be available for $399.99. Xbox One will cost gamers $499.99.
