"Aloha" is a movie that has been cloaked in mystery since its inception, but as viewers got a glimpse on Wednesday at the film's first trailer they are reminded by Sony co-chair Amy Pascal that although this A-List-embedded film may glitter, in her opinion, it definitely isn't gold.

The trailer for this twisted sort of rom-com was made available to movie buffs for the first time on Feb. 11 and gives us a look at the seemingly complicated and somewhat intricate plotline within. The movie is chock full of top-notch Hollywood talent, including actors Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Alec Baldwin and Danny McBride, and Academy Award-winning director Cameron Crowe.

According to a story from The Hollywood Reporter, however, Pascal openly criticized the Cam Crowe film recently, after test screenings of the flick garnered low scores among viewers. As she steamrolled the romantic plotline of the movie, Sony's acid-tongued exec also lambasted Crowe for refusing to make any changes to the story even after earlier test screenings of the movie also seemed unable to spark viewer's interests.

In an internal e-mail response to "Aloha," which made its way to the mainstream media as a result of the infamous Sony hack of 2014, Pascal summed up her feelings on the project pretty succinctly, saying, "I'm never starting a movie again when the script is ridiculous."

"I don't care how much I love the director and the actors. It never, not even once, works," she wrote.

However, for fans who are not put off by Pascal's caustic reaction, the movie is set to hit screens across the U.S. on May 29 of this year. Sony Pictures posted a plot summary on "Aloha" on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) website, describing the project as follows:

"A celebrated military contractor [Cooper] returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs and re-connects with a long-ago love [McAdams] while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watchdog [Stone] assigned to him."

Yawn, right? But apparently we shouldn't be quite so quick to judge because many movie lovers are reportedly relishing this quirky flick that weaves weird yet intriguing aspects into its plot from beginning to end. An anonymous insider posted the following more thoroughly detailed synopsis alongside Sony's on IMDB, sparking a slightly brighter flicker of interest:

"A 37-year-old disgraced U.S. weapons consultant named Brian Gilcrest [Cooper] is disliked by most everyone. His only friend is a techie named Jeremy "a super-smart and highly aware computer." As a response to aggression from China, Gilcrest is deployed to a dormant military base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of an advanced spy satellite," the insider wrote.

"Together with the anal and humorless Major Lisa Ng [Stone], he must secure the blessings of the native Hawaiian council before the launch. Gilcrest also gets a chance to meet with Tracy [McAdams], the one love of his life who got away, along with her husband and two kids. On the island he discovers himself."
